The Punisher

Three films by three directors who agreed on nothing, and the television version that finally worked.

Where to start with The Punisher

Three films, and not one of them continues another. Each recast the part, rebuilt the character and ignored what came before, which is why there is no order to follow between them. Best first.

  1. 1
    The Punisher (2017) The Punisher

Start here. Twenty-six episodes with room to actually be about something, and the only version that gives Frank Castle a reason to exist beyond the body count. It assumes you have met him in Daredevil but does not require it.

  2. 2
    The Punisher (2004) The Punisher

If you want one film. Take the extended cut, which is seventeen minutes longer and considerably better.

  3. 3
Punisher: War Zone (2008) Punisher: War Zone

A reboot, not a sequel. It is far more violent than the 2004 film and has a cult following that argues it is the most faithful of the three.

  4. 4
    The Punisher (1989) The Punisher

Last, and only if you are curious. Dolph Lundgren's Frank Castle lives in a sewer and does not wear the skull.

Then what? One Last Kill in 2026 is a Disney+ special and belongs to the MCU page. Avengers Confidential is an animated film he shares with Black Widow, and is on the Avengers in Animation page.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
