About thirty books in named sub-series, and one of the best of them is a parallel trilogy on the other side of the war.

Where to start with The Riftwar Cycle

Magician first. Then the Empire Trilogy, which is the thing people wish they had been told about.

  1. 1
    Magician The Riftwar Saga

The 1982 first novel. Note that it is published as one book in some countries and as Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master in others. Same book. There is also a revised author's preferred edition which is longer.

  2. 2
Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon The Riftwar Saga

The rest of the first trilogy.

  3. 3
The Empire Trilogy The Empire Trilogy

Written with Janny Wurts, and set on the other side of the war that the first trilogy is about. It runs in parallel rather than after, it is a completely different kind of book, and a large number of readers name it as the best thing Feist put his name to.

Then what? After that the cycle runs in publication order through roughly twenty five more books, in named sub-series. The Serpentwar Saga is the next high point.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
