Where to start with Slam Dunk

The anime has no ending and the film is not the ending of the anime. If you want the whole story there is only one way, and it is the manga.

  1. 1
    Slam Dunk (1993) Slam Dunk

A hundred and one episodes and the version most people have seen. Go in knowing it stops before the National Tournament, which is the last act, so it simply runs out rather than finishing.

  2. 2
Slam Dunk (1990 manga) Slam Dunk

The only complete version of this story. Thirty one volumes, and the part the anime never reached is the part everybody says is the best of it.

  3. 3
The First Slam Dunk (2022) The First Slam Dunk

Takehiko Inoue directing his own ending twenty six years later, and it adapts the final match. It assumes you know these people and it skips the chapters between where the anime stopped and where it starts, so it is not a way of finishing the series.

Then what? Four theatrical shorts from 1994 and 1995 sit alongside the television series and are original side stories, around thirty to forty five minutes each. No sequel to the 2022 film has been announced.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
