The Fly

Two separate series, thirty years apart, sharing a title and a premise and nothing else.

Where to start with The Fly

Decide which of the two series you want first, because they are not one. The 1986 film is a remake of the 1958 one, and the two sequels belong to different runs. If you only watch one thing here, watch the 1986 film.

  1. 1
    The Fly (1986) The Fly

Cronenberg's. The best of the five by a distance and it needs nothing else. It won the Academy Award for Best Makeup.

  2. 2
The Fly II (1989) The Fly II

Only if you want more of 1986. It follows on directly and Cronenberg had nothing to do with it.

  3. 3
    The Fly (1958) The Fly

The original, with Vincent Price, and a different kind of film entirely. Watch it as its own thing rather than as a lesser version.

Then what? Return of the Fly (1959) and Curse of the Fly (1965) continue the 1958 film and nothing else. A further remake has been discussed on and off for years and has never been made.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
