Where to start with Transformers: Generation 1

In order, and the film goes in the middle rather than at the end. It is set between the second and third seasons and the third season begins by assuming you have seen it.

  1. 1
    The Transformers (1984) The Transformers

All four seasons, in order, but stop after season two and watch the film before you carry on. Ninety-eight episodes, mostly standalone, and the animation quality swings wildly, which is part of the charm.

  2. 2
The Transformers: The Movie (1986) The Transformers: The Movie

Watch it between seasons two and three, not at the end. It kills most of the cast, introduces the ones season three is about, and season three then starts twenty years later without explaining any of it.

  3. 3
Transformers: The Headmasters (1987) Transformers: The Headmasters

Only if you want the Japanese side. It picks up from the end of season three and ignores the American season four completely, so the two endings contradict each other.

Then what? Japan made three more series after Headmasters and they run in order: Masterforce, then Victory, then the single episode of Zone. None of them were shown in America at the time.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
