Where to start with Twilight

Release order, five films, four books, and the story finishes. That last part is worth saying because two of the other big young-adult film series on this site stop partway through and never come back.

  1. 1
    Twilight (2008) Twilight

The one film in the series that is just called Twilight, with no saga prefix. Nothing before it, and it works completely on its own if you decide to stop.

  2. 2
The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Different director, much bigger budget, and where the second half of the love triangle actually arrives. It follows directly.

  3. 3
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

The first half of a single novel, so it stops rather than ends. Do not start it unless you intend to watch the next one straight after.

Then what? Eclipse goes between New Moon and Breaking Dawn, and Part 2 finishes the story and the series. All four novels are adapted, so there is nothing left hanging. An animated series retelling the first book from Edward's side is in production for Netflix with no episode count and no date.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below — tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. To carry it to another device, move the code below.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in — good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that — scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Restoring replaces the progress currently saved on this device for the franchise the code belongs to.
