Ultraman: the New Generation

On the data. The single most useful sentence about this era is that it is a multiverse and not a shared universe. Each series is set in its own world, crossovers happen by dimensional travel, and the Ultra Galaxy Fight miniseries exist specifically to let the heroes meet across universes. That is why a newcomer can start almost anywhere. The era boundary itself is official rather than a fan convention: Japanese sources record New Generation Heroes as the term used across media for the Ultramen from Ultraman Ginga onward, and Tsuburaya's own anniversary programming billed the first Ultraman New Generation Stars season in January 2023 as the tenth anniversary of the line, counting from Ginga in 2013. Ginga also followed a six year gap after Mebius and was the first Ultra television series to move off the TBS line, onto TV Tokyo, where every series since has stayed. The correction most worth making is that Trigger and Decker are not sequels to Tiga and Dyna. Trigger is a modern re-approach to Tiga, released for Tiga's twenty fifth anniversary, and Decker does the same for Dyna. Director Koichi Sakamoto's stated intent was to reinvoke the same element while keeping both shows separate entities. You do not need to watch Tiga to watch Trigger, and that false prerequisite stops more newcomers than anything else. Episode counts here need care because preview specials and recap specials are routinely folded into them by aggregator sites, and the Ginga and Ginga S split runs are frequently mis-rendered as two seasons. Two counts are genuinely disputed. Taiga is listed here as twenty six, because English sources number episodes one to twenty six with the twenty sixth airing on 28 December 2019, while Japanese sources count twenty five plus a special edition, since that final instalment was broadcast and billed as a special. Both are describing the same twenty six broadcast slots. A separate pre-broadcast Episode 0 aired in June 2019 and is not counted. Ultraman Omega is listed at twenty five with the count flagged, because the finale is documented as episode twenty five airing on 17 January 2026 but Tsuburaya's own title list page still shows the count as to be determined, which makes it formally single-sourced. Ultraman X is twenty two, not twenty five: Tsuburaya's official title list says twenty two, Japanese sources agree, and the broadcast run of Tuesdays from July to December 2015 is consistent with twenty two after preemptions and inconsistent with twenty five. Ultraman Teo is currently airing and its season length has not been published anywhere, including Tsuburaya's own press notes, so its row carries only what has gone out rather than an assumed twenty five like its predecessors. Teo premiered on 4 July 2026, is the sixtieth anniversary series, the thirty first television entry and the forty first overall, and follows Ibuki Mitsuishi, an alien survivor from planet H12 living on Earth as a veterinary student. No successor has been announced, though the annual cadence has held unbroken since 2016. Two entries commonly mistaken for series are not listed. Ultraman Victory is counted as a New Generation hero but has no series of his own, debuting inside Ginga S and headlining the Ultra Fight Victory miniseries in 2015. The Ultraman Chronicle and Ultraman New Generation Stars programmes are clip and recap shows rather than new drama, four seasons of twenty two so far, and they are deliberately kept off the watch order. Beyond the television series and films, there is a secondary tier of miniseries worth knowing about: Ultra Fight Victory in 2015, Ultraman Orb: The Origin Saga and Ultra Fight Orb in 2016 and 2017, with the latter setting up Geed's debut, Sevenger Fight in 2021, and the Ultra Galaxy Fight trilogy, which is free on the official channel and acts as connective tissue, with New Generation Heroes leading into Taiga in 2019 and The Absolute Conspiracy leading into Z in 2020. The episode count for the third, The Destined Crossroad, is not stated by any source found, so it is not listed. Two films that do not exist and should not be expected: Ultraman Z has no film of its own, and Ultraman Omega has no theatrical film either. Two more things belong on a different page entirely. Shin Ultraman from 2022 is a standalone reimagining of the 1966 series with no connection to this continuity. The Netflix computer animated ULTRAMAN, which ran thirteen, six and twelve episodes across 2019, 2022 and 2023 and is now complete, adapts a manga that is itself a sequel to the 1966 series, following the son of the original's Shin Hayata in a powered exosuit. It has no connection to any series on this page. Ultraman: Rising from 2024 is a third separate thing, an original standalone story made by Netflix Animation with Tsuburaya. This matters practically: a newcomer searching for Ultraman will find the Netflix anime first, because it is the most discoverable Ultraman on a major Western platform, watch all thirty one episodes, and end up with no grounding in the line this page describes. On availability, the official YouTube channels are the only consistently reliable free legal route, carrying the Japanese originals with dubs in many languages, the Ultra Galaxy Fight miniseries, and the English simuldubs of recent series. Tsuburaya Imagination is the subscription service. Tubi, Shout! Factory TV, Pluto TV, Prime Video and Roku carry parts of the library, and Ultraman X was the first tokusatsu show in the world to be simulcast while airing in Japan. One gap this page does not yet cover, and it is a real one: the Heisei era between 1996 and 2009, meaning Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Cosmos, Nexus, Max, Mebius, Ultraseven X and Mega Monster Battle. Those are a distinct officially recognised grouping with much longer runs, between thirty seven and sixty five episodes each, and they are not on this page or the Showa one.
