Where to start with Winnie the Pooh

There is no order to follow here, because there is no continuity to follow. Sixty years of adaptations share the characters and the wood and nothing else. Start with the one that is still the best.

  1. 1
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Three theatrical featurettes from 1966, 1968 and 1974 joined together with narration and a new closing scene. This one film covers all three, so watching it and then hunting the featurettes down separately means seeing the same seventy five minutes twice.

  2. 2
Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore (1983) Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore

The fourth featurette, made six years after the compilation and therefore not inside it. It appears as an extra on home releases of the 1977 film.

  3. 3
The Tigger Movie (2000) The Tigger Movie

The first theatrical Pooh feature in twenty three years and the first with an original story rather than a compilation. If you only want one of the later films, this is it.

Then what? After that it is a matter of taste rather than order. Piglet's Big Movie, Pooh's Heffalump Movie and the 2011 Winnie the Pooh are each self-contained. The three television series are three separate takes in three different formats, cel animation in 1988, puppetry in 2001 and computer animation in 2007, and none follows another. Christopher Robin from 2018 is live action and stands apart from all of it. There are around ten direct to video films and a handful of holiday specials, several of which are repackaged episodes, and none of them is listed here.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
