On the data. A short honest page. Ys has been running since 1987 and has more than ten games, and its entire screen output is two runs of direct to video animation from the late eighties and early nineties. Nothing has been made since. Episode counts for those OVAs differ between the Japanese and English releases, which cut and recombined them, so no number is carried here. The games themselves are unusual for a long running series in that almost every one stands alone. The same adventurer washes up somewhere new, solves that place's problem and moves on, and knowing the earlier games is rarely required. That is the opposite of Falcom's other series, Trails, which has its own page here and expects the exact opposite. The music is what the series is best known for, and the same composer's work turns up across decades of it. Nothing has been announced.
