Eleven films that mostly run as one timeline, which is unusual for a slasher series this long. Two of them sit oddly, and there is a running joke worth knowing in advance: the things people associate with this franchise arrive later than they think.

Jason takes over as the killer here, with a sack over his head rather than a mask. It follows on directly from the first film's final scene.
The hockey mask appears for the first time, three films in, and set the day after the second ends. By this point you will know whether you want the other eight.
Then what? Parts four through nine run in order and get progressively stranger: the sixth turns Jason undead, the eighth barely reaches Manhattan, and the ninth tries to end it. Freddy vs. Jason follows Jason Goes to Hell despite arriving a decade later, and Jason X is set in the year 2455 so it comes last however you count. Crystal Lake is a prequel series due in 2026.
