Picks up thirty-four years later with the film's antagonist as the lead, and it is far better than that premise suggests. It draws on all four original films, but the first one is the only one it needs you to have seen.
The film that connects this line to the 2010 remake, which had been a separate story until then. It comes after Cobra Kai and refers back to it, so it goes last rather than anywhere else.
Then what? Parts II and III are worth going back for once Cobra Kai starts mining them, which it does from its second series onwards. The Next Karate Kid is the fourth and least loved. The 2010 remake is a different story with a different cast in a different country, and until Legends it had no connection to any of this at all.
