Peter Rabbit

Twenty three little books with no order at all, a faithful 1990s series, and two films that are nothing like any of it.

Where to start with Peter Rabbit

Read the tales in any order, because they are separate little books rather than a series. For screen, the 1990s series and the modern films are two completely different things.

  1. 1
The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) The Tale of Peter Rabbit

Fifty six pages and about six hundred words. Everything else in this list comes from it, and you can read it in ten minutes.

  2. 2
The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends (1992) The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends

The version that actually adapts the books. Nine episodes on the BBC, drawn by hand, and it takes the tales more or less line by line.

  3. 3
    Peter Rabbit (2018) Peter Rabbit

The famous modern one, and it is worth knowing before you start that it is a broad comedy with almost nothing of Potter in it. Peter is written as an aggressive prankster and Mr McGregor is killed off in the first few minutes.

Then what? Benjamin Bunny, The Flopsy Bunnies and Mr. Tod are the other tales Peter really appears in, and there are twenty three tales in total across Potter's whole world. The 2012 computer animated series invents its own stories and its own characters. Peter Rabbit 2 from 2021 is an original story too.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
