Where to start with Police Story

The first four films follow one policeman and belong in order. The two later ones carry the name and nothing else, so they are starting points rather than continuations.

  1. 1
    Police Story (1985) Police Story

Jackie Chan as Chan Ka-kui, and the stunt work that made his reputation in Hong Kong. If you can, find the Hong Kong cut; the international version is thirteen minutes shorter and rescored.

  2. 2
    Police Story 2 (1988) Police Story 2

Picks up from the first film's consequences, with Maggie Cheung back as May. The Hong Kong cut runs 105 minutes against the 95 of the export version.

  3. 3
Police Story 3: Supercop (1992) Police Story 3: Supercop

Michelle Yeoh arrives and does her own stunts, which is the reason to watch it. Released in America simply as Supercop, so it is often filed as a standalone.

Then what? Police Story 4: First Strike from 1996 closes out the run and is the last with that character. Supercop 2, also called Project S, is a spin-off led by Michelle Yeoh's character with a Jackie Chan cameo, and sits after the third film without being needed. New Police Story in 2004 and Police Story 2013 are separate restarts: Jackie Chan plays a different man with a different name in each, and neither continues anything.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
