Where to start with Samurai Champloo

In order, but relax about it. This is built like a road movie: a girl hires two swordsmen who cannot stand each other to help her find a man she only knows by a smell, and then almost every episode is a separate detour that has nothing to do with that search. You can miss one and lose nothing. The exception is the last three episodes, which are a single story and only work if you have the whole journey behind you.

  1. 1
Episode 1, 'Tempestuous Temperaments' Samurai Champloo

Mugen, Jin and Fuu meet, and the deal that holds them together for the rest of the series gets made in about twenty minutes.

  2. 2
The series (2004 to 2005) Samurai Champloo

Twenty six episodes from Manglobe, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe between Cowboy Bebop and everything after it. Edo-period Japan scored with hip hop, mostly by Nujabes.

Then what? There is no second season, no film and no sequel. The manga is two volumes published alongside the series in 2004 and adds nothing you need. A live-action version was announced in March 2026 by the studio behind Netflix's One Piece, with no date and nothing filmed, so it is not listed here.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
