Sonic the Hedgehog

Three films and a six-episode series that goes between the second and the third, not after them.

Where to start with Sonic the Hedgehog

Release order happens to be right, but for a reason worth knowing: the Paramount+ series came out eight months before the third film and belongs there, so anyone who assumes a spin-off series is optional filler or an epilogue gets it wrong.

  1. 1
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) Sonic the Hedgehog

The one with the redesign, and it works completely on its own. Nothing before it, and none of the older cartoons connect to it.

  2. 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Adds Tails and Knuckles and is where the series starts drawing on the games properly. It follows directly.

  3. 3
    Knuckles Knuckles

Six episodes on Paramount+ set between the second and third films, following Knuckles adjusting to life on Earth. It is a real interquel, not an epilogue, and where he is when the third film starts follows from it.

Then what? Then the third film, which brings in Shadow. A fourth is dated 19 March 2027 and has finished filming, with Kristen Bell joining as Amy Rose. None of the older Sonic cartoons or the anime connect to these films at all.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below — tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. To carry it to another device, move the code below.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in — good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that — scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Restoring replaces the progress currently saved on this device for the franchise the code belongs to.
