The Expendables

Four films, numbered one to four, and that is genuinely the whole answer.

Where to start with The Expendables

Four films, numbered, in order, with one cast and one continuity. There is no prequel, no reboot and no branch, so the only useful thing a guide can tell you is where the series is at its best.

  1. 1
    The Expendables (2010) The Expendables

The one that assembles the cast and sets up the premise, which is really just the pleasure of seeing these people in one film. Nothing before it.

  2. 2
    The Expendables 2 (2012) The Expendables 2

The best-liked of the four, with the biggest cast and the clearest sense of what the joke is. It follows the first directly but explains itself as it goes.

  3. 3
    The Expendables 3 (2014) The Expendables 3

Cut to a lower rating for cinemas, which is the usual complaint about it, and it brings in a younger second team. An unrated cut exists and is the one to look for.

Then what? Then the fourth, which came nine years later and is easy to lose track of because it was sold in cinemas as EXPEND4BLES and renamed The Expendables 4 for the home release. Nothing else in this franchise exists yet.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below — tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. To carry it to another device, move the code below.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in — good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that — scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Restoring replaces the progress currently saved on this device for the franchise the code belongs to.
