Where to start with The Rookie

One long series and two spin-offs, and the only thing to know going in is that the first spin-off ran at the same time as season five rather than after it. Everything else is simply the order it went out.

  1. 1
The Rookie, series 1 The Rookie

A man in his forties joining the LAPD as its oldest rookie, built loosely on a real officer who did exactly that. Nothing before it.

  2. 2
The Rookie, series 4 episode 19 The Rookie

Titled “Simone”, and the first half of a two-part story written as the pilot for the FBI spin-off. It introduces Simone Clark and Agent Garza, who then keeps turning up in the main show for years.

  3. 3
The Rookie: Feds, series 1 The Rookie: Feds

Simone Clark as the FBI's oldest rookie, which is the same joke in a different building. One series only, and entirely optional.

Then what? After that, series five of The Rookie and the whole of Feds went out week for week on the same nights, so watch them in step if you want both — four episodes across the two are linked, and the pair from 3 January 2023 is a genuine two-part story. Then series six through eight run on alone. The Rookie: North has been ordered but has not started.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below — tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. To carry it to another device, move the code below.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in — good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that — scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Restoring replaces the progress currently saved on this device for the franchise the code belongs to.
