V/H/S

Nine anthologies with no story between them, and the numbers in the titles are years rather than sequence.

Where to start with V/H/S

Any order at all. There is no continuity in this franchise, so nothing needs anything else. If you want the two good ones first, start with the second film.

  1. 1
    V/H/S/2 (2013) V/H/S/2

The best of them by common agreement, and it needs nothing before it. Four segments, one of which is the reason most people talk about this series at all.

  2. 2
    V/H/S (2012) V/H/S

The first one, and the only one anything else grows out of: two of the spin off features come from segments in this film and the second. Watch it whenever you like.

  3. 3
    V/H/S/94 (2021) V/H/S/94

The relaunch on Shudder after a seven year gap, and the start of the modern run. If you only want the newer ones, begin here and go forward.

Then what? The numbers in the later titles are the years the tapes were supposedly recorded, not their place in the series, which is why V/H/S/85 came out after V/H/S/99. V/H/S: Viral from 2014 is the one most people skip. SiREN and Kids vs. Aliens are features grown out of single segments and neither needs the film it came from. V/H/S: SCP, a crossover announced for cinemas in 2027, is a spin off rather than the tenth main film.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
