Where to start with American Ninja

Two films with Michael Dudikoff, then two with David Bradley, then one that is not really one of these. Watch the first two and decide from there.

  1. 1
    American Ninja (1985) American Ninja

Michael Dudikoff and Steve James, and the template for everything Cannon made after it. Nothing needs to come first.

  2. 2
American Ninja 2: The Confrontation (1987) American Ninja 2: The Confrontation

Same lead, same sidekick, same director. If you only want the real ones, these two are the real ones.

  3. 3
American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt (1989) American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt

Where it changes hands. David Bradley plays an entirely new character, not a recast Joe Armstrong, and Michael Dudikoff is absent. Steve James coming back is the only link.

Then what? American Ninja 4 from 1990 puts both leads in one film and is the last time Michael Dudikoff appears. American Ninja V, from 1993, was made as a different film called American Dragons and renamed: David Bradley plays a third unrelated character and none of it follows on. Skip it unless you are completing the set.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
