Three films that adapt two and a half novels and then stop forever.
Three films in release order and there is nothing to reshuffle. The thing you need to know before you start is not the order, it is that the series ends in the middle of the story and never comes back.

The one film in the series just called Divergent, without the franchise branding. Nothing before it, and it works on its own.
Follows directly and takes the story outside the factions. It was the second-biggest of the three and the point where the series was still on a normal path.
The first half of the third novel, split in two because that was the fashion. It ends on a setup for a film that was cancelled, so watch it knowing that going in.
Then what? That is where the films stop, permanently. The fourth was dated for June 2017, turned into a television film after Allegiant lost money, lost its lead when Shailene Woodley declined to move to television, was developed at Starz for over a year, and was abandoned in December 2018. If you want the ending, it is in the novel Allegiant, and the second half of that book is the part nobody filmed.
