Sync & backup holds a short code you can paste in on another device. Share progress copies a link that opens the tracker already filled in — handy for showing someone where you got to.
Worth knowing: browsers do clear their own storage. Safari in particular wipes a site's data after about a week of not visiting, and private windows forget everything when you close them. If you've put real effort into a list, export it.

Can't find one?
A web series sits between the second and third films and introduces a detective the third film brings back without explaining him, and the fourth film released is set in 1900.
Release order goes wrong in two places here and both are easy to fix. Take the three modern films in order, drop season one of the web series in between the second and the third, and save the 1900 film for last even though it came out fourth.
Bangkok, and the film that puts the two leads together for the first time. Everything after it assumes you have seen it.
New York, and the film that sets up the detective ranking app the later stories run on. It also introduces Kiko, who leads a case in the web series.
Twelve episodes in three separate cases. It introduces Lin Mo, the detective the third film brings back with no introduction at all.
Tokyo, and the biggest of the three. Lin Mo and Noda Koji turn up in it as brief appearances that only land if you have watched the web series.
Sixteen episodes in four cases, made three years after the third film and set after it. Kiko from the second film leads this one.
Then what? Then Detective Chinatown 1900, released in January 2025 and set in San Francisco in 1900, with Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran playing new characters rather than the ones you have been following. Leave it until the end. It is a self-contained mystery, English Wikipedia states it is not narratively connected to the earlier films, and putting it first because of its title year gives you nothing the rest needs. No further film has a confirmed title or date.

Your data
There are no accounts on SagaList and no database of visitors. Almost everything the site does happens inside your own browser and never reaches anyone. Here is the whole picture, including the one thing that does leave your device.
Everything you tick off. Your progress is saved in your browser's own storage, on the device you're using, under a key belonging to this site. It is not sent anywhere, it is not backed up by us, and we cannot see it. If you clear your browser's site data it is gone, and we could not restore it even if you asked — which is exactly why Export image of progress and Sync & backup exist.
The same is true of a share link. The progress is encoded into the address itself, so it travels with the link rather than being stored on a server. Anyone you send it to can see what you've watched — that's the point of it — so only share it with people you mean to.
Only a suggestion, and only when you send one. If you use Suggest a title, what you typed is submitted to Netlify, who host this site, and forwarded on to us. That form asks for a title and an optional note. It does not ask for your name or your email address, and there is nowhere to enter one. Netlify records the submission along with the technical details any web host sees when you send a request, and their privacy terms govern that.
If you never send a suggestion, nothing you do on this site is transmitted anywhere at all.
We do count visits, and it would be dishonest to have a privacy page that did not say so. It is done by Netlify reading its own server logs — the record every web host keeps of which pages were requested. Nothing is added to this page to make it happen: no script runs, no cookie is set, and nothing follows you from one visit to the next or from this site to any other.
What that produces is a count: how many pages were served, which ones, and roughly where in the world the requests came from. Visitors are counted as distinct network addresses per day, which is how a request gets counted once rather than five times. It is a tally of traffic, not a record of people — there is no profile, no history, and no way to look up what any one visitor did.
Two typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch them, and Google sees that request the way any web server sees a request for a file. Nothing about your progress is included. Apart from that, the entire site is a single file served from this address.
The Join our Discord link at the foot of every page goes to Discord, which is a separate service run by a separate company. It is an ordinary link: nothing about what you've watched travels with it, and following it tells Discord only that somebody opened an invite. Anything you do once you are there — including needing a Discord account to say anything at all — is covered by Discord's own terms and privacy policy rather than this page. Nothing on SagaList itself ever asks you to make an account, and the server is entirely optional.
The Support the site link at the foot of every page goes to Ko-fi, a separate service run by a separate company, where anyone who wants to can send a few dollars towards the domain and hosting. It is an ordinary link and it is entirely optional: nothing on SagaList is paywalled, nothing is unlocked by paying, and nothing about what you've watched travels with the link. If you do send something, Ko-fi and its payment processor handle the payment and see whatever you type into their form — SagaList never sees or stores a card, an address, or a name, and keeps no record of who supported it. That side of things is covered by Ko-fi's own terms and privacy policy rather than this page.
If visitor analytics or an optional account for syncing across devices are ever added, this page gets updated first and the change will be obvious rather than quiet. The promise on the front page — nothing stored about you — is meant literally, and it stops being printable the day it stops being true.
SagaList keeps no contact list, so there is no address to write to about your data. There is nothing held about you to ask for.
